At Leyland Methodist Schools, we are committed to fostering leadership qualities in our pupils. Our ethos emphasises celebrating each individual's unique talents and encouraging service to others, aligning with our mission to "Love, Serve, Celebrate Together."
Through various leadership opportunities, we aim to nurture responsible, compassionate, and proactive leaders within our school community.
Every pupil at Leyland Methodist Schools is encouraged to take on daily responsibilities that contribute to the well-being of our school environment. These tasks include maintaining classroom organisation, assisting peers, and participating in school-wide initiatives. Such responsibilities instil a sense of ownership and community among our pupils.

Pupil Leadership - Infants
At Leyland Methodist Schools, we believe that even our youngest pupils can be leaders. Through various leadership opportunities, children learn valuable skills such as teamwork, communication, and responsibility.
School Council Influence
Our School Council representatives play a key role in shaping the school environment. This year, they presented their ideas to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on how to promote positive behaviour during playtimes. Their suggestions focused on creating a more engaging and inclusive playground experience, ensuring that every child feels safe and happy while playing.
Playground Development
As part of this initiative, our Infant Building's Committee were actively involved in the design of our new playground. The pupils were involved in the initial planning stages. They looked at designs and together with the planners chose the most suitable equipment for KS1 children. Towards the end of the project they reviewed the work completed with Mrs Chadwick to check it was completed to a high standard. They shared their positive response with the construction workers. To complete the project they had a final meeting with Mr Hodges the contractor, to thank him for the hard work. Following on from this Mrs Chadwick talked through with the play leaders/buildings committee how the play equipment should be used safely . We looked at the number of children allowed on each piece of equipment and how it should be used safely. During the course of a week the sports leaders worked with each class to model the expectations on how to use the equipment safely but also how to have lots of FUN!
