Celebrating World Book Day 2025 at Leyland Methodist Schools
On March 6th, 2025, Leyland Methodist Schools will join readers worldwide in celebrating World Book Day. This annual event promotes the joy of reading and encourages students to explore diverse literary worlds.
Planned Activities:
Character Parade: Students are invited to dress up as their favourite book characters, bringing beloved stories to life.
Book Swap: A school-wide book exchange will allow students to share and discover new reads, fostering a community of readers.
Reading Challenges: Fun competitions will encourage students to read a variety of genres, with prizes for enthusiastic participants.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate by reading with their children and discussing their favourite books. Together, we can cultivate a lifelong love of reading in our students.
For more details and updates, please visit the school's official website or contact the school office directly.
A letter from the Chair of Governors was sent to parents and guardians last week giving an update on the progress made to becoming an academy under Epworth Trust. The letter details that on 17th October, the Regional Board approved Leyland Methodist Infant and Juniors Schools joining Epworth Trust. There will now follow a period of 'due diligence' where the trust and the schools work closely together to plan for this change.
Lancashire County Council have today issued a statement regarding the schools they are responsible for maintaining. It says that they have not been informed by the DfE of the need for any of their schools to close due to RAAC concerns. Both of our schools are maintained by Lancashire County Council. Therefore we expect to open as usual in the 4th September.
We were very excited to receive our list of new starter names today. At this moment in time, it is looking like all places will be taken and that we will have a full cohort of 70 children. We are currently putting together our plans for our September 2023 new reception children. Mrs Melling, our Executive Headteacher, will be writing shortly to all parents whose children have been offered a place for September. This letter will ask parents to formally accept the place. Following this confirmation we will be sending out details of the 2023 induction programme. Please keep an eye out for updates.
Is your child starting school in September 2023? If you are considering Leyland Methodist Schools, we have now added new visit dates in November. Please ring the school office for further details or to arrange an appointment - we would love to see you!
Please see our updated admissions page for more details. Select Key Info and Admissions is an option in the drop down menu.
Leyland Methodist Schools Open Afternoon is on Wednesday, 28th September 2022 from 3.30-5.30pm.
A warmest welcome to you all as we start the new academic year tomorrow on Monday, 5th September 2022. We have 67 children starting school for their very first time in Reception and their teachers will be outside their classrooms ready and waiting to show the children what to do and where to go.
We also have 7 children starting school in other year groups and we look forward to meeting them too. For these new children, please go to the main office in the Junior Building where our wonderful admin team will help you settle in. To our returning pupils, we hope you had a really great summer and we can't wait to catch up with all your news! See you very soon!
This week, new state-of-the-art Promethean interactive screens have been installed in our junior school classrooms. They look fantastic and are a much improved update to our old whiteboards and projectors.
